Just got my 62 reissue strat back from Kenny Duncan again, and it plays an absolute dream!
When I brought it secondhand, it had definately seen better days, with excessive bridge corrosion and fret wear. A deluxe set up was really the only option, and Kenny talked me through the options as I’ve never had a re-fret done. I also opted to replace the whole tremolo unit, and went for some little extras that I was after such as a 5 way switch and new volume/tone knobs.
Kenny had it back to me in no time, and now it plays perfectly like a strat should; with even action and notes that ring true all over the fretboard. The fretboard radius is perfect, and the string spacing is correct with the custom bone nut that he installed. As my first time getting a re-fret, I was unsure of what to expect and how to go about choosing things like fretwire thickness,
but Kenny is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to these things, and he talks it in terms that I can grasp. Everytime I go in to KDG, I learn a s*** load about guitars, and the results speak for themselves. The prices seem very reasonable, and Kenny can get in quality brand name parts at killer prices. In short, I’ll definately be back, next on the agenda… pickups ; ) cheers Kenny!
